Full Fibre Broadband Preparation by Openreach for Flats

Hi

On Monday this week, contractors for Openreach pre-installed fibre connections inside the hallway to each flat in the block where I live. I placed an order, and this triggered them to pre-install connection points to the other flats.

I noticed that the points to each flat are in pretty much a direct line with the fuse boxes inside each flat, with power trunking leading along the upper wall to the kitchen. Am I correct in thinking that the middle connection fibre box would be drilled into to bring in the fibre to the flat? I don't think it would be in the right position and would be obstructed by the fuse box and power trunking.

All of the six flats in this block have been done like this. The work was done cleanly and neatly.

@MightyAxle It's a typical MDU installation and fibre will be coming into the smaller box in your picture, how they do the rest fibre out, and ONT position, power required and Ethernet that will be OR's next plan for you.

I think it's just a few weeks away now until the engineer appointment, subject to change, of course. Next Monday is the outside assessment and potential connection to the main part of the block of flats.

@MightyAxle At least they have allowed you to order a FTTP package, still some work to be getting it all done.

@MightyAxle I would recommend contacting your landlord ASAP, as that fuse box has not been installed legally (legally meaning by a registered professional) to comply with building regs.
