Force a device onto 2.4GHz band?

I have been told my Tado that I need to pair the thermostat onto 2.4GHz band, or switch off 5GHz band.

I don't want to switch off 5GHz band just to accommodate 1 device manufacturer, 

I have, from BT days, the BT router, is there a way to get that device onto 2.4GHz somehow?

@MrA11 There is no compatible wi-fi on a BT Router, but in the advanced wireless, go switch off the 5Ghz band, apply it and save, connect the tado device once connected, return to the Router and switch the 5Ghz back on, apply and save again, good chance your 2.4Ghz device will now work it all out and stick fine!
