Hi
Openreach have installed fibre on the road we have just purchased a house on. The house I've purchased isn't yet connected to the fibre - i think it just has an old BT phone line. I've watched a video on BT and it explains that an openreach engineer will come and install a box outside the house before Bt come in and connect to it. I can't find anything on the EE site which explains the process.
I ask because i was previously with Virgin and noticed in the house we were buying virgin didn't supply a service so I've taken a contract with EE in my temporary rental house and wanted to transfer the service once we move in.
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

@binky7 yes, the ONT is the optical modem you connect your router to.
EE use the same openreach service as many other suppliers, so you should be able to order FTTP from EE. It may take a while to get it up and running, depending on engineer availability in the area.
Give the Broadband Care Team a call in the morning or when you get a chance to give you a better idea of timescales.

@binky7 If you know the telephone number currently in use in the new house, if not use the address in the BTW DSL checker to find out what services are available. https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL
Post the results hiding the phone number/address.
Or check on the EE website https://shop.ee.co.uk/broadband

Hi @Mustrum thanks - this is what it's returned on an address check
Up to 1000 | Up to 220 | -- | Available | KCI2 Assure |
Available |
Our records show the following FTTP network service information for these premises:-Single Dwelling Unit Residential UG Pre built to curtilage Soft.
FTTP is available and a new ONT may be ordered.
For all ADSL and WBC Fibre to the Cabinet (VDSL or G.fast) services, the stable line rate will be determined during the first 10 days of service usage.
In order to be eligible for handback, downstream speed should be less than Downstream Handback Threshold values.
If you decide to place an order for a WBC fibre product, an appointment may be required for an engineer to visit the end user's premises to supply the service
Mildenhall exchange:Only single order products are available and ADSL and ADSL2+ products are not shown as available. However for premises that can only be served by SOADSL, BT will continue to accept ADSL and ADSL2+ orders until SOADSL is available.Thank you for your interest

You will find on the EE website the help article How is Fibre to the Premises installed? That should give you a good idea of the steps involved in installing FTTP.
No, the box outside the house is the fibre cable terminator, called the Customer Service Point (CSP), which does not involve the entry of an engineer to the property. The Optical Network Termination (ONT), which is the FTTP modem, is installed on the inside wall of the property, usually opposite to the CSP. A small hole is drilled between them to connect with a fibre cable.
To get it from EE you need to order a Full Fibre Max product from EE Broadband Deals
