Eero Pro 7 router

Hello,
I want to get an Eero Pro 7 in to replace my standard EE Wifi 6 hub.
I can then take advantage of the new router and possibly add an additional one as part of a mesh but are there any known issues in the basics of replacing the EE supplied hub?  I've tried to search the forums for similar posts so wanted to ask...

1. Will the EE VOIP landline I use have any issues?
2. Will the EE TV box be fine working with a new router? Looking at other posts, it looks like the internet TV services and guide may be impacted?
3. I assume most of the router cabled and wifi services will work but anything else I need to know?

Thanks in advance.

  1. EE DV will not work on from non-EE/BT router. The EE SH router must be 1st downstream of the BB supply for it to work.
  2. Probably not.
  3. EE does allow the use of 3rd-party routers. However they may only investigate any issues until you put the supplied EE router back. In Using & Configuring a Third Party Router you'll find everything you need to set up your router incl. the BB PPPoE creds. which are now the same as BT's.

Thanks for the update!

Seems like it may be quite disruptive in the short term, knocking out two core services.

My BB+TV+Phone term comes up for renewal in the next 6 months or so.  I'm often looking to minimise monthly costs (so preferring to buy a router rather than pay for it monthly), so I guess if I move to a new VOIP number and maybe as planned switch to a FreeSat recorder.  We're using both the landline and terrestrial TV less and less, so a workable and lower cost solution may be the better option long term.

You are not paying for the EE router. You are renting it for free.

@cwarrent As you are using the Landline very little, then take a look at A&A for the voip service, incoming is all free, outgoing very low call rate / minute as an option, EE TV is tied to EE Broadband, few streaming services available also not tied to BB provider. EE Mobile if you are on the EE one all discount's for that will be lost.

Sorry, I meant to say, to my knowledge if I wanted Wifi 7 I would then have to add a monthly charge for that upgrade vs buying the Eero device outright (which I'm happy to do).

Thanks for that.

I'll make a note of that VOIP provider.  I'm not sure if you can port the EE telephone number (guessing maybe not) but it may not be a great loss.  Feels like there's maybe a long term plan away from EE but you never know.

@cwarrent They will tell you if the landline number can be ported or not.

I'll make a note of that for the future then.  Thanks again Jim.
