I changed the admin password that my SH+ came with to a new password (using Hub Manager).
I entered a password that was less than 12 characters, which resulted in an error.
However, when I was asked again to enter my old password, it didn't work. It turned out that the less than 12 character password that I entered had actually been taken as the new password, despite the error. Perhaps I should now change this new password to a longer password, but whilst pondering this I discovered that the EE app would no longer display Manage > Broadband.
Does changing the a hub's admin password always affect the EE app?
In the end, I uninstalled the EE app, and I see that I have to pair the app with my hub once again.
I've started this process, and I've reached the page where I'm given the options of:
"Restore old hub's settings"
"Back up new hub"
or I can select "Do this later".
What should I do here, bearing in mind that I'm just trying to get my current hub re-paired with the EE app, and don't want to change any of the settings on the hub?

I managed to mess up …… wel my IPad did, setting the new password on the hub. I had to reset the hub using the little hook pin supplied with it, which reset it to factory settings and the password that came on the little cardboard square supplied with the hub and went on from there.

Were you changing the admin password at the time, or the WiFi password?
I think everything is working okay with my hub, it's just that I didn't think that it would affect the EE app.

Hi @XRaySpeX, do you know if changing the admin password on a SH+ would affect the EE app?
I ended up uninstalling and reinstalling the app, and had to pair the hub to the app once again.
And should I "Back up new hub"?
Hopefully you can help. Thanks.

I shouldn't think so.
The error you had at 1st on the admin pwd was just a warning that you hadn't met all the recommended criteria for it but they aren't mandatory.

Thx v much for the prompt reply @XRaySpeX .
I think I actually got an error implying that the new password wasn't valid, but you are correct of course that in effect it's not mandatory to use 12 or more characters.
It seems strange though that the "Broadband" section of the EE app stopped working immediately after changing the admin password 🤔.
When pairing the app with the hub once again, should I select "Back up new hub", or should I just select "Do this later"?

I would ignore it by "Do this later".

Ok, thx!

I had contacted EE through chat, but was told that they were closed ... and then a bit later a guide suddenly appeared, so I asked the question regarding changing the admin password and the app.
According to the guide:
"The admin password is the default password and since the devices are connected through the password they get disconnected and hence a re-pair is needed.".

Yes, I think the app needs the admin password to 'talk' to the hub over your local network. It should have reprompted you for the new admin password (I'm pretty sure I've seen it do that in the distant past). If it didn't, then it would explain why things broke.

As I understand it: -
Restore old hub's settings = restores the Wi-Fi network name/password from last back-up. If you haven't factory reset the hub then I doubt this would actually do much.
Back up new hub = tells the app to backup the Wi-Fi network name/password going forwards should you want to restore it after a factory reset.
Do this later = does nothing (and you're not prompted to do it later).
