EE SH replacement

Good afternoon,

I am looking at swapping out my EE SH for a new Router (Netgear R7800) I know that I will need a modem for this as this is just a Router. Are there any recommendations on what I can use or any standard I need to follow when searching for a modem as I'm not completely up to speed, I usually use a Modem/Router combo but intend to use a custom FW that is only offered on the Router only variant of the device listed above. If anyone has any input it would be appreciated.

Only for that reason, but don't pay too much extra for it. I should think you're more likely to get FTTP in the future than G.Fast.

What does BT Wholesale Broadband Availability Checker estimate for your phone number? Post just the whole table and the line above it, blanking out your phone number. If it doesn't recognise your phone number or you don't have one, use the Address Checker.

Thanks! You're welcome 🙂 ! Glad I could be of assistance & trust it is now sorted.

What Broadband package do you have?

For FTTP - Full Fibre - you don't need a modem.

For FTTC/G Fast Draytec are one few manufacturer's that are still doing modems these days. Or you could have a look on Free ads/eBay for an Openreach used one.

As you are replacing a EE SH you only need a VDSL2 modem, not a G.Fast one, altho' the latter will work.

It's not full Fibre just FTTC as that's all that's offered in my area unfortunately, it is what it is. I'll take a look and see what I can find now. Thank you so much for your reply and have a lovely Christmas.

That's brilliant, thank you for clearing that up 😄 Would there be any benefit to going with a G.Fast other than future compatibility??

Hope you have a wonderful Christmas. Thank you again.
