Had a door to door sales man knock on the door yesterday. Usually I turn them away but as we have having been having difficulty with our Internet from another provider It sounded like a great opportunity to switch.

However after phoning my Internet provider and researching online I've been informed we'd have to pay the remainder of our contract minus a tiny percent which is over the £500 mark. The guy on the door said that wouldn't be the case and that it's capped at under £300 as I asked him twice and another guy he came back with who reassured me that EE would clear the balance. However that's apparently not the been the rule since 2023? So either he/they were lying or miss informed.

Given these guys are working with you it's a waste of everyone's time to come out and install something just for me to cancel in the 14 day period as I wont be paying myself out of a contract that's £100's of pounds.

I'm now sitting waiting for it to turn 8am and hoping I have no issues cancelling the entire setup.

Hello @Tilledbear88 and welcome to the community.

Information regarding the switching team can be found HERE.

If you No longer want services you can contact your current provide (CP) to cancel the take over or contact EE to cancel the take over.

If you want the take over to happen you don't need to do anything.

the OFFER TERMS are as follow >

If you choose to switch your broadband, calls and line rental from another UK consumer broadband provider to EE, you'll be able to claim up to £300 towards the early termination charges you may pay to your provider for ending your agreement early, credited to your EE account. The offer applies to Consumer Broadband, TV package and Home phone termination charges only, it excludes other termination charges. This offer is by invitation only to new EE Broadband customers signing up to any EE Broadband or EE Broadband and TV.

The amount of the termination charges will be credited to your EE account within 28 days of us receiving your bill with the early termination charges. Excludes call and any excess data charges on the final bill. You must email your bill to switch-team@ee.co.uk within a period of 4 months of your EE broadband being activated to be eligible to receive your account credit. Offer excludes BT Group employees. Offer excludes termination charges from BT Group (BT, EE and Plusnet) products. There is no cash alternative to this offer. Other exclusions and conditions may apply.

No credits will be applied in the first 14 days after your service starts. Customers who cancel their EE Broadband within 14 days of their service starting, or who do not provide their final bill within two months of their service being activated, will not be eligible for this offer.

Thank you for the above information, however my final payment will exceed £500 which I made them aware of as that is the remainder of my contract and they insisted it wouldn't as its capped by law which it isnt?

I have the entire conversation on film of my ring cam.

Ive now tried to contact yourselves on the phone to cancel the installation as its pointless and have been told they can't do it because they can't access my account without and account number?

I haven't been given an account number I only have the VOL number. So I need to wait for you guys to install just to then cancel? This is ridiculous.

Sorry Fizzy. I didn't realise you weren't actually from EE. Apologies. But the above post is now where I'm at.

Stuck in limbo.

@Tilledbear88 Hello again!

Yes correct EE don't cover more then £300 and your current provider won't reduce your final bill.

You don't require an account number to talk to EE, EE offer OTP via Text and Email.

You can also provide your address and last 4 digitals of your bank account number used to take the Direct Debt payments out off.

If all that FAILS you can contact your current provider who can cancel the transfer for yourself they also have power to cancel the take over.

Some extra information can be found HERE.

@Tilledbear88 Have you checked any e-mail from EE, if you have the Vol number order reference, then you should receive your customer number. Think you should get onto your ISP supplier, and have them reject the take over from EE. This is a public forum and you are not addressing anyone from EE when you post, just so you know. HTH

If you are with anyone who is not with the one switch program, then you only have to deal with getting EE stopped, but with the ball now rolling, that can be difficult to do....
