EE FTTP 1.6g - How can i keep my landline? Pavement a issue? switching from VM

Hi everyone!

Landline issue:
im looking to join EE and get the 1.6gb FTTP package, however i need to somehow keep my landline number. what or who can i purchase a service from which will allow me to have both the 1.6gb package and the landline?
ive contemplated the 900mbps package to make it more easier, but i just feel like i should get what i want which is the 1.6gb bundle.

Installation Questions:

Now, my entire front and back of the house is packed with slabs, big and small, there is no grass at all. so would this make a installation much more difficult and possibly not possible? some of the slabs at the front of the door are very small, and would 100% be damaged if they're required to be uplifted.

The area i would put the router is next to a window which covers the entire area, there isnt much wall, unless they digged thru the foundation and put the cable to the fibre box up through the floor.

thank you everyone for any help!

@Optilic  Your pic will need to be approved before you or others can see them. That said they are very blurry, not sure if anyone else can read them.

But as expected , like your neighbour a feed from the nearest pole is anticipated.

Have a look at A&A or others for VOIP, but be aware of the timing, make sure the new service is up and working before you migrate and/or cancel  your previous service.

Edit, pics approved.

@Optilic Now you know that you can get fibre and to 1.6Gb/s go look at what an ISP will give you, it's off to see which ISP will offer what to you, and at what speed, same as before NOT every ISP will give you what you want. FROM EE you can forget having DV on and if they do offer you the 1.6Gb/s package, it's just not tied together and working as yet. As @Mustrum pointed out the VOIP and keeping your number is CRITICAL in the timing side, for instance go with EE, your landline goes into oblivion the number is NOT yours to keep, so you have to be very/very careful.

EE is 1Gb/s DV no issue, EE TV no issue, and a waiting game when it all becomes good for BOTH/EITHER, then 1.6Gb/s upgrade path to the all singing all dancing, and using Asus Router DV from EE means YOU HAVE TO USE THERE'S NO CHOICE!!!! Unless you are BB only and taken care of the Landline to some other VOIP provider before it all then you can do what you want.

Use one of the U switch etc to see what is available, ISP wise with speed and obvious that they allow your Asus to be used.

Just to clarify something

Right now digital voice is not an option with the 1.6Gbps rate. It is only available on 900 and below.

This was supposed to be resolved in January as well as formalising the 1.6 upgrade for existing customers, but no sign yet.

Source of information: next gen team

just to confirm, if i do choose the 900mbps package, do i NEED to use their router provided for my phone to work? or can they set up a ADSL splicer in my wall socket for my phone alone

@jonstatt That would be correct, not sure that a timescale was ever applied, then again the Forum would not know it, information would be passed to user's, EE TV is/was also affected in the 1.6Gb/s top tier packages.

If you got it from the next generation team, they are the people who deal with that/those packages and wi-fi 7 product's.

@Optilic  EE DV landline is delivered via the EE Router, so it has to be No1 up front and foremost for the landline to work. Delivery is either pure digital through the inbuilt DECT chipset or out to the ATA port on the back of the EE Router.

Remote DVA (Digital Voice Adapters) work to extend the dect frequency and allow a standard phone to be connected, they have to be able to reach the router but it is all a digital signal in a lower frequency band. (Total 5 phones/adapters) allowed.

Many other way's to convert existing cables and allow phones/extensions to work, that is a separate issue.

Your ADSL/VDSL connection copper to the outside world is dead and buried as far as OR is concerned for ever.

SO EE DV requires EE Router, there is NO way round it. VOIP to someone else do what you want they take care of the landline voice, but they do have to do it through an adapter of some sort's.

@OptilicSorry did not see who has you landline currently with response. just looked again VM have the number, was it a BT number once and transferred to VM or is it always been a VM number owned by them?

Getting the posting mixed up another VM user asking similar but say's got dedicated fibre from VM.
