Download speed keeps dropping from 300Mbps to 150Mbps

I've been an EE FTTP customer for about 16 months.  Before then I was with BT also on FTTP.  I was on a 150Mbps download plan for both.   My broadband has always been 100% reliable,

Last week I upgraded to 300Mbps.  I received notification from EE that the upgrade had happened.  However, my download speed was still 150Mbps.  I tried rebooting my router.  Still on 150Mbs.  I then rebooted the ONT and finally I got 300Mbps.

Today when I checked the speed of my broadband, the FTTP connection was running back at 150Mbps.  I could only get it back to 300Mbps by rebooting the ONT and router.

Any suggestions please?

@jaybeetooee Picture are still not cleared but will take the look when they are, do not use anything and no longer with EE, was EE/Sky/ and Now on Vodafone, do NOT use any ISP supplied Hub/Router so have to rely on what is sent back for speed checking, as before the ONT is fully responsible for the speed caping not the Hub? Have you tried one or other, but you find both is the best way to get it back up, never have any issues what so ever on the Fibre.

Couple of oldie's attached, think they are from the app...

I was using my own router but have connected the Smart Hub instead so EE can do problem determination.

@jaybeetooee With you on that now, so was your other NON isp hub also giving you low speed if that is your complaint?

See you also say you have the BT Smarthub2 version, FW from April 2025 allowed the EE app to start working on that hub, not sure about how good it functions app wise, has the speed part off the app worked, my pics app wise were EE Smarthub 6+ version as it is now known.

Yes, I was also getting the speed drops with my own router.

@jaybeetooee Picture is cleared now but as much use as the app in any fact's, as you suspect all was well on the FF150 connection, then two/three choices, swap the Hub out but yours and BT's not working hard to say with that one, swap the Ethernet between the ONT/BT hub, and finally get EE to swap out the ONT but that will involve OR to do so.

You can PPPoE direct on the ONT and see what is going on but you can only have one device working so unless the system is way unstable for speed then you just may not see that as a result.

Just going to throw this out there, you are aware that it is possible to NOT get full speed all off the time depending on what is going on external with the network, for me have see max throughput at as low as 200Mb/s although short lived couple hours and the Network extremely busy, that i have zero control over, but 95% off the time it is fine.

Should I be asking EE to replace the Smart Hub 2?

@jaybeetooee You can only but try, the BT Smarthub2 is well capable on the FF300 connection you have, more than likely they would say no or just send you the EE equivalent which does nothing for you, SH32B is the next one up for you, and think carefully if you want that as Mobile with app is needed for good part of the functions.

What was your own Hub, my Asus never has any issues on the Fibre ONT? Also the sky SR203 was fine, the vodafone Hub also was ok, although that one is now back in it's box, only to come out at the insistence of the ISP as that is what they can test and that is going to be an extremely bad day if needed, know what i mean!

My router is a TP-Link XE75

@jaybeetooee Not a huge fan of TP-Link routers in mesh but that one should eat a FF300 for breakfast in operation.
