Dad moving from Plusnet to EE and needs help

So, my 86 year old non-technical Dad is being moved to EE apparently on Friday, so he can keep his home phone. He's had a new router delivered and literally nothing else. He's phoned EE and got to talk to someone he couldn't understand very well and basically only learned that:
- he's not getting an engineer out to help him
- he's going to be billed separately for (something?) by "green bay"
- they would send him an email with a bunch of info and a video (they haven't)

So, here are some questions I'm really hoping one of you lovely lot can answer:

- If his internet and phone are being switched over on Friday, will both start working properly straight away, or will his phone take days ?
- will the EE router have been pre-configured with his account info ? I'm fairly sure my latest Plusnet one was.
- what will happen to his Plusnet email addresses? he has NOT been told he's moving to Greenby, so we have no idea whether his email will just disappear
- if he does move to Greenby, will they be charging him for it?

He has had literally no communication from Plusnet other than "we're chucking you out" after more than a decade.
So, as it stands I'm doing a 400 mile round trip at the end of the week to try and help him out.

Thanks in advance to for any help you can give.

Something else to consider is that moving from Plusnet to EE (or  another provider) and continuing using the Greenby email (they're the email provider that Plusnet handed over the email side of their business too last year), the ability to send emails may stop working a day after the successful migration from Plusnet to EE. This happened to my relative moving from Plusnet to BT - moved FTCC and digital voice over (mostly successfully)  then a day later cannot send emails, receive them ok. Because the email outbound is using a Plusnet account related setting that will cease to exist when Plusnet close the internet account.

If this applies, this may help:

Personally I'd recommend ditching Greenby email at all costs.

@insert_name It's all to do with the smtp port, nothing else.

@JimM11 it was actually the requirement to change the outgoing from relay.plus.net to mail.enmail.co  which solved the issue.

Apparently Greenby were supposed to have taken over that as part of the transfer process but it hasn't happened.

@insert_name If that is the case, once you have all the details for movers then post your findings, also see the linked posting.

After 2 weeks being offline, one EE visit and four Openreach visits, my Dad's internet connection is finally up and running as of Friday.

😊

@OriginalBigBri Did you ever find out what the issue was getting the connection to him, suspect it was the ADSL to FTTC move, then provisioning not done correctly. Hard to say if your dad did not prompt to find it all out? Glad you are up and at them now, is his landline phone on the DV side all kicked in as well.

Check his account also, seems like EE were doing some funky transfer deals on the BB/Phone from other postings earlier to keep the calls rate way down ie BB for low cost but phone had a package against it to match the PN/EE price.

@JimM11 no idea what the problem was. They sent someone round to his house multiple times, and I was saying to them, it's just two wires, what on earth could need changing? Obviously needed something changing at the cabinet...

Once we're happy that everything is working, we can review the contract. I think it's probably up for renewal soon anyway.

@OriginalBigBri Got it, also seen your other post and replied to that as well. Contract wise you may have found EE did a 24 months right at the start but you just never know until you look and also at all the PN e-mails that would have been flying about at the start, if not to your mums old one?
