Changing to EE Router

I have just changed from BT broadband to EE and have been sent a new router. We have TV services through Sky. 
Is it just a case of plugging the new hub in and everything working straightaway ? Or do I needto change settings ? I’m not very technically able (as you can probably see!) 

any help gratefully received.

@PennyN If you just take it step by step read and double read the install guide, keep power on your OLD BT router, and follow to keep the existing settings, then the NEW EE will program itself to your OLD router settings and it may be far easier change over, BUT there is never a 100% that everything you have will work straight off without wobbles....

@PennyN    the simplest thing to do is keep your BT Router. Although you will need to tell EE/BT that you want to do that so they don't ask for it back.

Or in the App there is an option to "Transfer" services, whhich changes your setting on the new router to match the old one. That said, you will need to make a note of the settings as they will be different to the card on the back of the new router.

I've recently moved over from BT to EE. On the broadband side, I wasn't changing plan or socketry.  Perhaps I was being naive, but I just plugged the new router into power and the "internet" socket, let it update etc, and away I went. I packed up the old BT stuff and posted it off right away.  I didn't do any cloning or change any settings as such, although obviously the wifi stuff in the house I had to change to the new EE network password. The ethernet stuff I just plugged into the new router as it had been on the old router.

You've not mentioned an engineer visit so I'm assuming there's no new socket being installed, and in that case, it's an easy swap, one for the other. Look how the old router is plugged in and do the same.

If your Sky box connected to the BT router with an ethernet cable, do the same again. If it connects over wifi, then as above, you'll need to go into its settings, find the network/internet bit, choose EE this time, and input the long EE password, and it should connect.
