I have fibre broadband, will a wifi extender be any good to get the signal to my summerhouse in the garden, it’s about 40 metres from the router.

@Tom-Steel7 Do you have mains electricity in the summer house?
If so extending an ethernet connection and using an access point would give you the best results, otherwise you can try an extender and see how you get on. No real way to say until you give it a go.

@Tom-Steel7 You can check using your mobile to were you loose the wireless signal from the router in the garden, less objects in the way better it will be, but wireless struggles to get through multiple walls and glazing, Powerline is another option if you do have mains power out there, i use that in garage, about 20M from home, speed is not great, but good for music streaming its a try and see what works as @Mustrum points out.

Hi there, thanks for the reply, i do have mains electric to the summerhouse. I have been looking at the TP-link AV 1000 gigabit passthrough powerline wifi kit

@Tom-Steel7 I used something similar in my son's garden to control lights and so he could stream music at the bottom of the garden. It works ok for him, without the need to use an ethernet cable. As mentioned, give it a go and see how it works for you. As long as you don't need high speed it should be ok, give it a try, get it from the right place and you can send it back if it does not work..

@Tom-Steel7 TL-WPA4220KIT works so you know, would not expect you would have any issue with the AV1000 range, just do not expect huge speeds. and keep away from using any powerstrips as powerline does not like them at all.
