Broadband activation date (will old provider stay active?)

Hi,

I’m looking to switch to EE broadband but they can’t get an engineer out until November 12th. My contract with virgin media ends on the 6th November. If I go ahead with the switch, will virgin keep my broadband active until (past my contract) until EE is set up? I work from home so can’t go without broadband for a week.

I’ve tried asking Virgin via their live chat service but the agent didn’t have a clue.

Thanks in advance.

@Oscar182  only your contract ends with virgin it will not then cease your broadband connection because you’re now out of contract.    you’ll be on a 30 day rolling contract.  so you’ll pay for 30 days you then changed provider and then virgin will refund the difference back to you.

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.

@Oscar182  did you tell EE that you were currently with Virgin when you signed up/ordered with EE?

If so then a new process called One Touch Switch means that EE will have told when your new service is going to start and cancelled your Virgin service. https://www.ofcom.org.uk/phones-and-broadband/switching-provider/simpler-broadband-switching-is-here...

You should give customer services a call to see if they have done this. But if you have not told EE about Virgin, then the process @Chris_B  has described applies.
