Broadband Dropping Out

Cortex
Explorer

Hello,

I have recently made the switch from BT to EE broadband - moving from standard fibre to G Fast - in the past few months and recently I have been experiencing a large number of dropouts. Just this afternoon, I have had 4.
When I go into the router admin centre, the connection status is showing as “Cable not connected” (see screenshot) when in fact it is. Furthermore, a reboot solves the issue however it is providing a huge nuisance as I WFH and being kicked out of calls, preventing me to work.
Can anyone provide any assistance?

Cheers

Locate the hidden test socket that is revealed when you remove the bottom half of the split faceplate (2 screws or press tabs) of your master socket. Only do this if you have a split faceplate. Do you have any extension sockets in the home even if unused? Are there any wires connected to back of faceplate of master socket?

Try the BT Quiet Line Test (QLT), dial 17070 Opt 2, preferably with a corded phone, in the test socket with the router disconnected. If there is any noise, report it to your landline provider as a voice fault (don't mention Broadband). Often sorting out voice faults will fix the Broadband as well.

Reboot the router & plug it into the test socket. Post the full router stats & System Uptime when plugged into test socket.

Is the issue any better?

Hi,

I have a Master Socket 5C - no landline in the house and I took the faceplate off but could not insert due to ADSL not the right connection for test socket. Could maybe use a microfilter as that is the same connector?

Cheers

Yes, you need a dangly filter for the DSL into the test socket.
