What a pain it has been to switch over to EE to get new router and faster speeds. Initially I was told they can order the 1.6gbps broadband from EE as I had by complete WiFi and i agreed only then after the phone call ended I noticed they simply transferred over like for like package on EE and found I then had to pay more not much but still £1 more. I was later told to let my order complete and I can then regrade and get the 1.6gb fibre from EE. I then checked on EE and it was still showing as I have the 900mb package. A few days passed, however to my surprise it now shows I can get rhe 1.6 gbps package from EE. So when I called again to day I was told I can’t get it even though I am on full fibre fttp as the people on the phone said they can’t see the offer so can’t provide this to me so firstly I was misled and missold what I was ordering then now their site doesn’t match it states I can get which is mis advertising. I have spent a number hours on the phone.

@elflash68 : No point in getting a fast LAN card for your PC with the present router. You won't get more than 1 Gig over Ethernet. It's a limitation of the SH+ router you've been given. Over WiFi-6 you might be able to get up to 1.8 Gig.

@elflash68 : I wasn't referring to the ONT. I was talking about your Ethernet LAN connections to your devices.
Whether you have a 2.5 Gig ONT is another issue. There are descriptions & pix in this thread to show what they look like.

I’d caveat this with up to 1.8Gbps in theory but in reality you might hit 1.3Gbps (rarely) it’ll be generally around 700Mbps on a good day.

@garetc : I'm pretty sure I've seen other user posting speedtests showing 1.8 Gig maybe with non-EE routers, e.g. Re: Upgrade EE 900Mbps to EE 1.6Gbps

Aye - I’m not saying it’s impossible but generally most people won’t get those speeds day to day.
Of course, it all depends on the build of your home, how many devices you have connected and all that jazz.

If you are using the EE supplied Router, unless it has been updated, with ethernet you will not be able to get more than 1Gb so you should consider 950 mbps good.
Are you sure that your PC is WiFi 6 as it is claimed that higher speeds are possible?
As you get 1400 with your mobile it is logical to expect you should get more with with your PC.
With a capable router higher speeds are possible.
