BT broadband to EE 1.6gbps

What a pain it has been to switch over to EE to get new router and faster speeds. Initially I was told they can order the 1.6gbps broadband from EE as I had by complete WiFi and i agreed only then after the phone call ended I noticed they simply transferred over like for like package on EE and found I then had to pay more not much but still £1 more. I was later told to let my order complete and I can then regrade and get the 1.6gb fibre from EE. I then checked on EE and it was still showing as I have the 900mb package. A few days passed, however  to my surprise it now shows I can get rhe 1.6 gbps package from EE. So when I called again to day I was told I can’t get it even though I am on full fibre fttp as the people on the phone said they can’t see the offer so can’t provide this to me  so firstly I was misled and missold what I was ordering then now their site doesn’t match it states I can get which is mis advertising. I have spent a number hours on the phone.

It looks a beast of a router, you would think it will sort out the issues you have been having since going to the 1.6gb/s

Thanks to all who contributed to this thread / post.

Not what most of you want to hear but the TP-Link BE19000 has most certainly sorted my problem out.😁

(Adam at EE HQ you was correct thank you) This is a learning curve for us all however I see a couple of guy's using the supplied EE Smart Hub getting full speeds, I can't sadly.🙄

I can’t wait to be able to give my feedback on the EE hub, so disappointed and dishearted with it all 2 working day untill Openreach update also will be start of 3rd week of it been “escalated” with openreach, and EE say it will be low rate compo as the did not activate service on the date, but i have lost my connect and land line what is a higher rate, just to rub salt into it

and i not heard directly from openreach since the 18th dec 2023, i need to vent that off as it seriously is starting to P me off

Certainly looks like progress for you - congratulations!

My issue is a bit different, with the speed to the ONT dropping off a cliff-edge. I don't mind that the router can't deal with all 1.6Gbps more that I get less than 134Mbps down.

@garetc

So far speed to my router seems stable and goes like a rocket.

Watch the wheels fall off now I have said that.🤣

Hi @timprocter ,

Can I ask what meeting you were given to connect to the ONT directly. Ive never managed to get windows to authenticate. Just curious to what seed I would achieve directly without the modem?

Glad to her the new TP Link is doing the job on Wifi 7. What real world speeds are you achieving wirelessly?

Still a great Ping speed too. Best I've ever got was 17ms.

Hi Mate, I read previously you tried and couldn't get a connection via PPPoE.

Not the first time I have setup a PPPoE connection so only took literally 2 minutes,

Sorry if I sound like I'm teaching you to suck eggs because you obviously know how it's done but here is exactly what I did.

I have Windows 11 but the same process.

How to Set up a PPPoE connection on Windows 10 | NETVN (youtube.com)

Not done much checking on the wireless side just yet but ethernet is now spot on.👍

Apologies to all for the excessive posts this week but I know Adam (from EE HQ) is reading this particular thread and wanted the details from the Openreach engineer who visited this morning. He will be sending the full report to EE but here is a snippet of what we found.

Light reading 18.69 and he told me the it has to be 27 or less so all good on that account.😊

He also told me the default EE Smart Hub is 99% of the trouble most are having with slow downloads and when he saw my new TP-Link BE19000 explained that has proved it's a hardware issue, no fault of Openreach. 😉
