Hi so came from BT and now they have put me with EE , they sent me a new router and all up and running but I have one problem, I have a raspberry pi connected and it won't stay connected to the 5G, always used to work fine on the BT router but will stay connected for say 30 minutes then drop, or maybe 10hrs then just drops... try pinging the device and zilch!
So tried the wifi 6 compatibility mode and the same thing, so disconnected 5G all together it connects fine to 2.4g and stays connected... want to keep 5G on as 6 other devices are connected to it.
Went to online chat with the iphone EE app which after a long winded chat said factory reset the router so tried that, changed the wifi name and wifi password so that everything could connect again and still the same just don't like 5G.
Any help please?

How far is the Raspberry from the router? The 2.4 GHz band has greater reach altho' slower, It may be more appropriate for it, esp. as you say it stays connected. The other devices will find their own levels & stay on 5 GHz if suitable.

Hi thanks for the reply.... Router downstairs pi upstairs near enough directly above it.. that would be ideal but how do you tell the pi to only connect to 2.4g is that possible? as I want to keep the other devices on 5G...
I'm not familiar with any think raspberry pi just use it for running an igate (ham radio) no RF transmitted...

On the Advanced > Wireless Settings page temporarily disable the 5 GHz WiFi band & move off the Smart channel while connecting the Raspberry. Then reenable the 5 GHz WiFi band for the other devices to connect to.

That would work but if for any reason I had to turn the pi off when its re-enabled would it not go for the 5G again, but I will give that a go... used to work fine on the BT router, think the EE one is more advanced with wifi 6 thanks for your help will give it a try....

Thanks for help, the quick fix did work but of course on a reboot it went back to 5G so not good, there must be a setting of something wrong with my setup though nothing has changed apart from the router, so today with some help and network cable took a while to move everything and then disabled the wifi on the pi and all seems to be working ok no dropping..
Something definitely not right, maybe just a setting with the 5G but who knows....
