Hi everyone,
I've just completed my order to move from BT Broadband (with TV) to EE and I'm awaiting my EE kit being delivered.
I am a little peeved at BT how they have overlooked their customers when it comes to kit, the Smarthub is old tech now and that is partly my reason for moving, EE are getting all the shiny new stuff.
With BT encouraging people to migrate, I don't suppose it's occurred to EE to setup a help page, or how to guide for previous BT customers? even a FAQ.
From the correspondence I've had (mostly automated) it looks like they hope it'll just be plug and play.
I have several family laptops, tablets, phones, and smart devices that will all need moving to the new router and I'm toying with the idea of just renaming the wifi and password to match the BT Smarthub 2 see how that goes.
I do have a query as to what happens with BT Virus protect (Norton) and the EE equivalent and will try and scour the forums for an answer. 😊

Hi Gibby
BT customers won’t get shiny new updated hardware, and that’s it. The decision has been made to push the consumer side over to EE, and it’ll be their name on new kit.
I’ve had numerous issues since transfer, but the new router wasn’t one. It didn’t even occur to me to replicate the old name & PW. I don’t know whether that would work or not; but I saw it as a fresh start. On arrival it was literally SH2 out, and SH+ in. Plug n play. All WiFi stuff had to be re-connected to the new network obviously, but no problems.
I wish the rest of it was as trouble free. Contacting EE can be a mare, but there are some VERY knowledgeable fellow users on here ready to give excellent help and advice.
Hope it all goes well.
Good luck.
EE Fibre 900 via SH+ with 2 Extenders, EE TV Pro & Mini boxes, 2 EE SIM's only, all originally BT.

@gibbylinks That's exactly what the EE set up wizard does, it migrates your existing Network Name and Password to the EE Router, so it will have your BT username and Password.
Whist it is a lot less hassle to do it this way I personally prefer to update all my devices to match the new router Network Name and Password.

@Ewan15 Each to there own, no real right way/wrong way to do it, but certainly lot less hassle when you use the reset factory setting button, which is a way to easy get out of jail function....
Also lot to be said about not having the factory applied settings on the router, ssid, pw and admin pw.

I believe that EE has three tiers Essential/All Rounder/Full Works for Broadband and from what i have read All Rounder and Full Works (should) include a setup visit.

Expert Visit from an EE Guide
What is an EE Guide? Our EE Guides are trained to install, repair, and optimise EE products and services (e.g. Smart Hub, EE TV, My EE app, Smart WiFi and Smart Hybrid Connect) whilst visiting you at home, we call this an Expert Visit.
Our EE Guides may also sometimes be able to help you connect non-EE devices to the Smart Hub over WiFi. EE Guides will provide advice on the full range EE’s products and services, some of which you may choose to purchase during the
visit.
When can I request an Expert Visit? You can benefit from a free Expert Visit from an EE Guide, if you are an All Rounder or Full Works customer, once in every 12-month period until the end of your minimum term. Other EE Broadband
customers can also request an Expert Visit from an EE Guide however these will be chargeable. If you are an All Rounder or Full Works customer, charges may apply for any additional visits made at your request.
As an All Rounder or Full Works customers, you are eligible for a free visit either:
i. When you renew or upgrade to an EE All Rounder or Full Works plan; or
ii. When you add certain products and services (such as Smart WiFi);
or
iii. When you request an Annual Health Check.
We may also send an EE Guide if you tell us you have a fault with your Broadband and/or EE TV service and we determine that the problem may be within your home.
What is the Annual Health Check? This is where an EE Guide will visit your home during an Expert Visit and check that your EE Products and Services (e.g. EE TV, Smart WiFi) are set-up correctly, make recommendations that could
improve your services (e.g. Replace the EE master socket, installation of Smart WiFi, fix internal wiring problems), and carry out any improvements with your agreement.
How do I request an Expert Visit? If you are placing an order for, renewing, or upgrading an EE Broadband plan you may be asked at the time. Otherwise, you can book an Expert Visit online at any time or by calling 0330 123 1105. There
may be circumstances where you need Openreach to visit your property. An Openreach engineer may need to install something in your home for the first time – this can include a new phone line or new fibre broadband technology. If
this is the case, you will be able to book an Expert Visit once Openreach have completed any necessary work to install your services.
