I have just bought an Asus DSL AX82U to swap for the EE Smart Hub but it seems I cannot complete the last step, and am hoping someone may be able to help me with an answer or an idea. You may spot a 'faux pas' in my set-up. First I power off the SH and remove the internet cable then power up the Asus and connect the internet cable. Next I connect an ethernet cable to my laptop and a LAN slot on the Asus and open a browser, at this point the Asus GUI is supposed to open automatically but doesn't nor has it opened on any other attempt at connection (Windows 11,Firefox). I open the GUI on my OnePlus 9 Pro and find it to be hit and miss regarding input. it connects to my network and I have three blue lights and one red light on the Asus, after a bit more trial and error the red light turns white (not blue) and when I put my mouse cursor on the internet icon in the System Tray it says internet access which I still do NOT have. I have reconnected the SH and once again everything is working perfectly. I hope the solution lies out there and I would like to ffer my thanks in advance.

You will be glad to know its working, but I think its more by luck than anything else. I'd like to thank you for your assistance and also to everyone else who was kind enough to make a suggestion. The 'solution' arose as I thought about the Username/Password I got when I phoned EE, I received the letters and numbers for both but when I originally found the Username on the EE SH it had @FS at the end of it so I re-entered it and it seemed to work as the Asus upgraded itself, one other problem,I'd split the two channels and renamed them and on viewing the networks saw the original one plus the two I'd renamed so I returned them to a single network and that seemed to do the trick. I'm going to try to send you a couple of pics, hope you get them, if not once again thanks to you and everybody.

Pic hasn't arrived yet.
Make sure you've set VLAN ID to 101.
From the navigation panel, go to Advanced Settings > WAN >Internet Connection tab.
It's image 3 that @XRaySpeX posted.

I told you early on to get your EE BB Username out of the EE SH. Easy enough but you wasted time calling CS for it & getting from them an unclear inexact value & being confused by it.

Glad you got it sorted @MrX1
When you know, these things are easy enough, but a serious challenge if you have not done it before.

In reply to your undeserved admonition I will elucidate-On searching the EE SH I found the Username/Password, the Username was open and had @FS at the end of it, The password was covered with a row of dots with a Show/Hide button next to it. Pressing the 'Show' Th button revealed the legend 'Hidden For Security' .My only recourse was the EE CS, the rest as they say,is history. Thank You once again.

OK. The BB pwd is easily workable out from the BB Username & we would have pointed you at What are my home broadband internet settings? for the transformation.
