I have just bought an Asus DSL AX82U to swap for the EE Smart Hub but it seems I cannot complete the last step, and am hoping someone may be able to help me with an answer or an idea. You may spot a 'faux pas' in my set-up. First I power off the SH and remove the internet cable then power up the Asus and connect the internet cable. Next I connect an ethernet cable to my laptop and a LAN slot on the Asus and open a browser, at this point the Asus GUI is supposed to open automatically but doesn't nor has it opened on any other attempt at connection (Windows 11,Firefox). I open the GUI on my OnePlus 9 Pro and find it to be hit and miss regarding input. it connects to my network and I have three blue lights and one red light on the Asus, after a bit more trial and error the red light turns white (not blue) and when I put my mouse cursor on the internet icon in the System Tray it says internet access which I still do NOT have. I have reconnected the SH and once again everything is working perfectly. I hope the solution lies out there and I would like to ffer my thanks in advance.

The Asus GUI shouldn't auto open until you have browsed to http://192.168.1.1 .

I,ve powered up the Asus, connected the internet cable and used an ethernet cable fr the laptop to a LAN slot in the Asus, I opened a browser and typed in your hyperlink and it timed out,I tried it 5 times and used a different search engine with no luck. The internet light fluctuates between white and red with neither colour signifying internet access.

@MrX1 go back to my first post - there is a link to the user manual, follow the steps in that.
For some reason @XRaySpeX messed around with my post and combined my post and the link.
A couple of thing, when you connect to the router the PC needs to know it is a private connection, and can be trusted. If firefox is not working try another browser. Before getting to the GUI, there should be a login banner for the router, username and password - you should find that in the guide.

I,be managed to open the GUI on my laptop, where do I enter the EE username/password and do I need to make any other adjustments to enable me to get online.

Cool, well done for persevering.
Which service are you getting from EE at the moment?
If not sure, post the result of the BTW DSL checker if you know your phone number - hide that number when posting. Or let us know what speeds you should be getting.

Depending on your answers, the help page will show setting if your router does not have an automatic set up, which I would have thought it would have.
On a different note, just wondering why you are changing routers?

Pardon? What you talking about? I haven't touched your post. Your post appears as pristine as when I 1st saw it.
The OP is replacing a SH. He has VDSL2.

How did you connect to the router's GUI from your lappy in the end?

@XRaySpeX If not you, then maybe a bug to report, but I got a black popup saying you merged my reply.
It may have been a result of you removing the fix, but in any case just reporting what the site said.
