Asus DSL AX82U problems

I have just bought an Asus DSL AX82U to swap for the EE Smart Hub but it seems I cannot complete the last step, and am hoping someone may be able to help me with an answer or an idea. You may spot a 'faux pas' in my set-up. First I power off the SH and remove the internet cable then power up the Asus and connect the internet cable. Next I connect an ethernet cable to my laptop and a LAN slot on the Asus and open a browser, at this point the Asus GUI is supposed to open automatically but doesn't nor has it opened on any other attempt at connection (Windows 11,Firefox). I open the GUI on my OnePlus 9 Pro and find it to be hit and miss regarding input. it connects to my network and I have three blue lights and one red light on the Asus, after a bit more trial and error the red light turns white (not blue) and when I put my mouse cursor on the internet icon in the System Tray it says internet access which I still do NOT have. I have reconnected the SH and once again everything is working perfectly. I hope the solution lies out there and I would like to ffer my thanks in advance.

@MrX1 if you enter router.asus.com in the browser it should bring the GUI up.

You will need to set it up for the service ypu have, and enter your EE username and password.https:/...

  1. Before powering off the SH did you note down your BB Username & later on configure the BB Username & pwd in the ASUS?
  2. The Asus GUI shouldn't auto open until you have browsed to http://192.168.1.1 .
  3. The only config changes I've ever needed to make to an ASUS VDSL2 router was on the WAN side with the BB Username & pwd above plus IP Ver = IPv4, MTU =1492 & DNS of my choice but not EE's.

I've just pressed the Wrong button on Mustrums post. SORRY!. first time I've been on these forums/any forums. In answer to his post I can't get the router to open, even with an ethernet cable attached.

PS what is the use of a REPLY button on these posts ,when I tried them I was told they were unavailable.

XRASPEX Re your post about configuration I can't even get that far. the asus app is crap its all stop/go.As to BB Username/Password when the app works it asks for your country and your ISP the next screen asks for the Username/Password the problem is I don't get much further with the app but I'm surprised the Asus wont open with an ethernet cable attached.

Can't get as far as which bit? Tell me what you've done so far step-by-step.

The reply button worked this time! The problem seems to be opening the GUI which only opens on my phone.   I was under the impression the ethernet cable would open a dialogue with the Asus. As for configuration I couldn't get that far. I entered the Username/Password when required by the app but was unable to get much further.

Forget the ASUS app, you are only removing yourself 1 step further from the problem.

Have you tried to connect to the router from your PC with the link I gave you? What happens?
