Advise required Re EE Smarthub Pro Wi-Fi 7 install

So my new Smarthub Pro arrived today and my install date is Monday 14th October.

Where my ONT will be installed  is approx 8 metres from where i need my router  placed.

The question i have is as follows. Will i be able to run my own Cat 6e cable from the ONT to my router? And do i plug

the Ethernet into the Red WAN socket on the router?

Or will the installers run a fibre optic cable to where my router will be situated?

My Fibre Optic line willl be coming from a telegraph pole situated outside my house, and I’m guessing that the installers will

come through my front wall into my lounge, where my copper phone line comes through ( I’m doing away with my phone line)

any advice will be greatly appreciated

Kind regards

Rob

@Robbla  There can be a degree of flexibility regarding where the ONT is installed, have a look on the Openreach website for more info, and do have tea/coffee and even chocolate biscuits may help, and talk to the installer about what is possible.

Yes you can use your own Ethernet cable.

@Robbla  Openreach will install your modem where your phone line enters the house as a default, however you can discuss options with them for a better location. I have run my own Ethernet cable from the ONT to my Router on the 1st Floor, and yes it connects to the WAN port which is usually coloured red. So you can locate your router wherever you like.

Thank you, ill have a selection biscuits at the ready ill let you know how the install goes.

Thank you for the advice, ill keep you posted on how it goes
