Adding EE broadband as a new mobile customer

Hi,

Planning to get both new broadband and mobile, I switched my mobile contract to EE yesterday without realising that if I’d done broadband first, then I could have got a really good discount on my mobile contract if I’d combined the two. Is there any way to get this switched?
Also, I’m currently with  BT (900mbps) for my broadband but out of contract. Aware that EE are in the process of taking over a lot of BT broadband stuff, so is this likely to affect me getting a good deal with EE? The other option is Sky, but I’d prefer to stick with either EE or BT if I can get a reasonable price.

Thanks!

@JimM11 definitely more than 2 flavours and you've got your Speeds wrong!

@OrangeGremlin

There are 10Mbps, 100Mbps and Uncapped Speed options on EE One - All on a 1-month rolling minimum term with Unlimited allowances:

  • No Frills at £11.50 has a 10Mbps Speed Cap - only good for the most basic of usage
  • Essentials at £14.50 has a 100 Mbps Speed Cap - more than enough for most people's usage
  • Essentials Plus at £17.50 also has a 100Mbps Speed Cap but includes EU Roaming and Unlimited Watch Data.
  • All Rounder at £23.50 and Full Works at £29.50 have Uncapped Speeds and a variety of other benefits. Both include EU Roaming and Full Works includes ROW Zone 1 (Turkey, USA etc.)

The available plans will be shown here under "SIM Only", but will also apply to Flex Pay Airtime Plans: https://ee.co.uk/ee-one

Any transfer of your BB from BT to EE while still in contract with BT should be done thro' your BT a/c so that you won't be liable for exit fees. However you will be transferred to near like-for-like features & cost. This will likely be dearer than what would you get coming to EE as a new cust.

Thanks for the quick reply - is that still the case if I'm out of contract with BT?

I tried selecting the move to EE link from my BT account, and the price it suggested was eye-watering compared to the deals being offered to new customers (£90 per month vs £40 for 900Mbps broadband).

If that's the only 'deal' I can get from EE then I guess I'll have to switch to Sky (which is not what I want to do).

Sorry, I meant to say that this was while you were in contract with BT. Have now edited it so.

You could try just applying directly to EE as if a new cust.

Great, thanks - so best option is to apply as a new customer. I can definitely try that route.

@OrangeGremlin Mobile 24 month contract versus the EE One, monthly contract unlimited speed reduced, would not be too hopeful but you only can try! If not cancel your EE Mobile contact asap!

@Jim11 Not sure what you mean - do you mean that EE One has unlimited speed whereas the monthly contract doesn't?

Either way, it sounds like I should just cancel the EE Mobile contract and start the whole process again - thanks for reassuring me that that's the best option. Just seems a little crazy that I should need to do that.

@OrangeGremlin Correct, unlimited two flavours you need to check for yourself but they were 10Mb/s or 30Mb/s, that's it! Think it is all on the EE site and explained what is what! Dumped the Mobile and BB earlier this year!

@Matt_124 Thanks, hope it does sort out the op's question. Never got the EE to work well no signal area so wi-fi calling all the time!
