Access of USB Hard Drive on Bright Box 2

Hi

I’m trying to access a USB hard drive plugged into my Bright Box 2.  From reading other posts there seems to be a missing menu in the router software.
The hard drive shows up, “shared as” is “- -“ amd there is no “share” button to the right or any USB options in any menu.
From what I’ve also read on a post here, the drive should show up in the appropriate section of my Smart TV, but it’s not found.

Tried setting up a FAT partition of 100mb in addition to the 1TB NTFS partition I’m trying to view.
Any suggestions appreciated on accessing the USB menu on the Bright Box, or why neither partition show up.

Not true! It has nowt to do with any TV. It is a separate device hanging off the router. On a PC look for it at Network / Computer / Brightbox.

You need to enable SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support. In Windows this is to be found in Windows Features.

The USB Settings on my router seem to have gone AWOL or I'm going blind!

Thanks for the quick reply. The drive shows up on my laptop (Ubuntu). Unfortunately I can’t access either of the partitions via the router, but can see them.

Thanks! Can you enable SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing under Linux?

Accessing the hard drive thru the Smart TV (LG) is what I’m trying to achieve.

Can't see how you'll be able to do that. It'll only be viewable from a PC-like device with a File Explorer-like program.

Does the TV not have a USB port you could use?

No worries. Thanks for trying though

The TV does have a USB port and that’s what I’ve used to now. Want to have access for other TVs to the drive too.

Then you would be better with a NAS  with DNLA.
