Having been on the new 1.6gb/s service now for 2 weeks, and here are my views,
i have the EE new smart router plus and 3 extenders, first off i know the EE smart hub plus only has 1gb LAN ports, speeds have been ok and stable WIFI rangers from about 650-820 what is not bad, i m running with them hardwired with a lan to them, i know WiFi 6 max speeds are 1200 but rarely get them in the real world
this package feels like it been rushed out, my reason for saying this are, openreach engineers laptops have 1gb Ethernet ports so they are unable to check speeds from ONT or any other Speedtest at your home if you are on the 1.6gbs package
the EE router having only 1gb LAN, also it comes with a cat 5e cable, this cat of cable does up to 1gb, so if you are on 1.6gb/s you will need to get a new Ethernet lead to connected the smart hub plus to the ONT
all the WiFi features like work and game mode and WiFi controls dont work, it say page not found, i have heard that the WiFi enhanced feature has been turn off so the team can look at it and fix it as it affecting a lot of users and should be back after a month, i am unable to check speed via the router page this time it asking for me to make an EE account
speeds and connection has been stable and good, but i did have a lot of issues getting the service
i know of people who have bought a 3rd party router so they can get full access to the raw 1.6gbs speeds, and they are having no issues on speeds as router has 2.5gb LAN on them unlike the EE smart hub plus
i have bought a usbc to 2.5gb Ethernet adapter so i can test the raw speeds at the ONT, plus if openreach do need to test speeds at my home they will be able too
so in short i hope you can see why i think this package has been rushed out from the fact openreach dont have the kit to test speeds at the customer home, to all the issues with the new smart hub plus

It is down dead as no lan light on Ont, ee say a fault I think duff router as it only happened on a router reboot
Reply what i cant unstand my freind is why i have an mso with no internet loss it just seems all very fishy to my freind so glad your is city fibe area we can only get 900mbps here or ee 1.6gbps we dont have the 2.5gb line despite only being 7 ish miles from manchester and part of the combined authority even manchester airport is less than 5.1 miles away closer to my home and the towns of stockport and wythenshawe rather than the city of manchester it really is abit of a joke 😄 my freind

Just had my call back from EE, spoke to Leanne a team leader in the next gen team.
She’s confirmed that existing customers can get the routers and boosters but they don’t currently have a a process in place.
The product team should have it confirmed within the next 24/48 hours and they can start to issue the routers to us all.
They’ve left my complaint open and will contact me back either tomorrow or Friday to let me know what the next steps are or to confirm that I’ll get the super router at some point next week.
It looks positive for now and when I have another update I’ll post it.

I love that they will tell you there hos no process in place. That just makes EE look completely incompetent. Its been in beta trials for most of the year and we have all known its coming out today for a few weeks yet somehow EE have no process in place. Totally shocking

With that complaint, if they don't resolve it to your satisfaction then make sure you get a deadlock letter.
I spoke to Ofcom this morning based on all this because I don't think my complaints were handled correctly and Ofcom said that because you weren't happy with their resolution they should have given you a Deadlock letter which you then take to an ombudsman. I was never offered one of these before and didn't even know they existed.
So I've opened a new complaint, requested that deadlock letter and so fingers crossed I can start to get things sorted out now.

As long as I managed to get confirmation it’ll be here at some point in the next week or so I’ll be happy!
It’s a small but convenient coincidence is that my own WiFi 7 router developed a fault so they’ve agreed to refund me, I need to return it by the end of the week.

I just spoke to next gen like a few have, I was told as I have a complaint that i will be on the list, they waiting on an order sheet, 48-72 hours I was told also I was told it be just the router and no repeaters at first and it be calling up to get them 1 at a time, he was this router range is huge, but only to your wifi7 devices not your WiFi 6 devices, hopfully it not be an issue as they say min of 100meg speeds to room as currently I get between 600-700 on WiFi 6 across the house what is on 3 floors

I guess we all have a better idea around the weekend if what some of us have been told happens, it looks promising as all the recent contact people have had with next gen team around the same time all saying the same. It would be nice if I got mine before openreach visit just to see if it was the router, and if it is the router I know I have the pro coming.
I guess once we get the routers there be a thread we all be posting our findings etc on the pro route
