2 week review of EE 1.6gbs

Having been on the new 1.6gb/s service now for 2 weeks, and here are my views,

i have the EE new smart router plus and 3 extenders, first off i know the EE smart hub plus only has 1gb LAN ports, speeds have been ok and stable WIFI rangers from about 650-820  what is not bad, i m running with them hardwired with a lan to them, i know WiFi 6 max speeds are 1200 but rarely get them in the real world

this package feels like it been rushed out, my reason for saying this are,  openreach engineers laptops have 1gb Ethernet ports so they are unable to check speeds from ONT or any other Speedtest at your home if you are on the 1.6gbs package

the EE router having only 1gb LAN, also it comes with a cat 5e cable, this cat of cable does up to 1gb, so if you are on 1.6gb/s you will need to get a new Ethernet lead to connected the smart hub plus to the ONT

all the WiFi features like work and game mode and WiFi controls dont work, it say page not found, i have heard that the WiFi enhanced feature has been turn off so the team can look at it and fix it as it affecting a lot of users and should be back after a month, i am unable to check speed via the router page this time it asking for me to make an EE account

speeds and connection has been stable and good, but i did have a lot of issues getting the service

i know of people who have bought a 3rd party router so they can get full access to the raw 1.6gbs speeds, and they are having no issues on speeds as router has 2.5gb LAN on them unlike the EE smart hub plus

i have bought a usbc to 2.5gb Ethernet adapter so i can test the raw speeds at the ONT, plus if openreach do need to test speeds at my home they will be able too

so in short i hope you can see why i think this package has been rushed out from the fact openreach dont have the kit to test speeds at the customer home, to all the issues with the new smart hub plus

Yeah I can now see the order (which I've never been able to do via the account page )

As he said its said to have the reuturn of old unit. And na new one is ordered with displach eta tomorrow.

Bit concerned though as its listed as wifi plus for ordered equipment ( he did say on phone that's what it's listed as on their end and will be the pro hub)  so hopefully it's the pro and not anther crappy sh+ router

Mine always said pro be in smart WiFi pro or smart pro router, the person you spoke to in executive complaints should of told you a contact number or email, it would do no harm to let him know, as case will not be closed untill you are happy

To be honest I happy with the progression so far after sending the email less then 24hrs ago.

He did assure me it was the pro model as when he said smart hub plus I told no its the wifi pro the wifi 7 version and said its just how it was listed on his end.

He's ringing Thursday to make sure I'm getting somewhere and happy with the equipment etc.. so if it wrong I'll get them to send the right one and return the plus hub if that what comes.

We will see, hopefully it's correct lol.

@Bluenose_Dave Sorry to get in touch this way but if i am correct you had some experience with the EE Smarthub+ and the associated Smart wireless, and if i remember you had a combo of wired/wireless backhauls with. In general what was your opinion of them operational wise did the mesh look like it did what it say's on the tin. Just cannot believe seeing so many with mesh issues, although they are gamming and to that respect if not wired, then so be it.

Hello Jim , when I was on smart hub plus I had them backhauled so they got the best speeds in the smart plus WiFi extenders I have never ran it as a mesh system, i hope this helps but if it did not feel free to ask away bud

Just a update on my order so far....

Got my parcel from ee today it was very slim for the so called wifi pro hub... yep no pro hub for me what they have managed to send is the wifi pro extender!! I can't believe how difficult they are making this situation feel like their doing it on purpose just to wind me up now.

Sent an email again to explain this and should be getting that call tomorrow from my complaints handler. So probably won't have this full wifi 7 setup before Xmas after all.
