Having been on the new 1.6gb/s service now for 2 weeks, and here are my views,
i have the EE new smart router plus and 3 extenders, first off i know the EE smart hub plus only has 1gb LAN ports, speeds have been ok and stable WIFI rangers from about 650-820 what is not bad, i m running with them hardwired with a lan to them, i know WiFi 6 max speeds are 1200 but rarely get them in the real world
this package feels like it been rushed out, my reason for saying this are, openreach engineers laptops have 1gb Ethernet ports so they are unable to check speeds from ONT or any other Speedtest at your home if you are on the 1.6gbs package
the EE router having only 1gb LAN, also it comes with a cat 5e cable, this cat of cable does up to 1gb, so if you are on 1.6gb/s you will need to get a new Ethernet lead to connected the smart hub plus to the ONT
all the WiFi features like work and game mode and WiFi controls dont work, it say page not found, i have heard that the WiFi enhanced feature has been turn off so the team can look at it and fix it as it affecting a lot of users and should be back after a month, i am unable to check speed via the router page this time it asking for me to make an EE account
speeds and connection has been stable and good, but i did have a lot of issues getting the service
i know of people who have bought a 3rd party router so they can get full access to the raw 1.6gbs speeds, and they are having no issues on speeds as router has 2.5gb LAN on them unlike the EE smart hub plus
i have bought a usbc to 2.5gb Ethernet adapter so i can test the raw speeds at the ONT, plus if openreach do need to test speeds at my home they will be able too
so in short i hope you can see why i think this package has been rushed out from the fact openreach dont have the kit to test speeds at the customer home, to all the issues with the new smart hub plus

Have you plugged it into the right on on the motherboard? Most have a 1x 2.5gb lan and the rest are 1gb ones.
Also check the settings on the network and see if the link speed is 1000mbps or 2.5gb, if its at 1000mbps then it's the wrong lan port or it's not configured right.
And while your there check that it's set to full duplex on the lan that your using in the adapter settings.

If it is only a short distance it will easily do the speeds, the limits on cat cables is at max length, but I have noticed the Ethernet cables with the pro router as thinner that the ones that came with the plus hub, I use my own lead for it

Hey, motherboard is b650e-f comes with 1 2.5gbps port. Checked the link speed and it’s showing 2.5gbps. The new EE router has all ports as 2.5gbps but have tried different port, have now tried swapping out the cat5e cable that came with it with a cat8 just in case.
I have an altnet installing a 2gbps connection on Tuesday so will be able to see if it’s my set up

Use openspeedtest and bufferbloat test from waveform website for loaded ping tests all the other speed test have to many variables and not 100% consistent
If i use my nearest server would get same speeds as you but one that's the same distance or longer distance in the other direction I'd get full speed most of the time, even then it can drop every now and again.
Same with fast just not reliable and constant

I tested steam download and got the same, got a top end pc rig, so there is no bottleneck. Just going to wait till other internet line is installed and then see

If EE said 1.68 then your getting it, check router broadband page for your WAN LINK it should be 2.4
Cat 5e doesn't cap at 1GBPS at a short range, I use the 5e that Openreach gave, I'm able to saturate my connection up to 1.8GBPS (rounded up from 1760) I did notice the hub reset itself 3 or 4 times the first day and then settled down, WiFi 7 I get 1500 2 floors up 😅

Well I can’t get any of that, I cap out at 1gbps wireless or wired, with devices supporting WiFi 7 and Ethernet connections at 2.5gbps.
Does your EE app label the smart hub pro still as the smart hub plus?

I didn't set mine up via EE app. I just did it all on a wired backhaul, just to confirm go on to the EE router page and check your WAN speed
This will troubleshoot for us to go forwards. 🙂

Yes and even the pictures when setting up is all smart hub plus on the EE app

Woggy, I have a theory... change the cable on the ONT to a new or other cat 5e cable, turn the hub and ont off and unplug for one minute, and forget your network on your phone so when it's back on your phone connects for the first time, I did this on my partners who was getting 300mbps. This fixed it for her and she's now getting 1.6gbps
