Having been on the new 1.6gb/s service now for 2 weeks, and here are my views,
i have the EE new smart router plus and 3 extenders, first off i know the EE smart hub plus only has 1gb LAN ports, speeds have been ok and stable WIFI rangers from about 650-820 what is not bad, i m running with them hardwired with a lan to them, i know WiFi 6 max speeds are 1200 but rarely get them in the real world
this package feels like it been rushed out, my reason for saying this are, openreach engineers laptops have 1gb Ethernet ports so they are unable to check speeds from ONT or any other Speedtest at your home if you are on the 1.6gbs package
the EE router having only 1gb LAN, also it comes with a cat 5e cable, this cat of cable does up to 1gb, so if you are on 1.6gb/s you will need to get a new Ethernet lead to connected the smart hub plus to the ONT
all the WiFi features like work and game mode and WiFi controls dont work, it say page not found, i have heard that the WiFi enhanced feature has been turn off so the team can look at it and fix it as it affecting a lot of users and should be back after a month, i am unable to check speed via the router page this time it asking for me to make an EE account
speeds and connection has been stable and good, but i did have a lot of issues getting the service
i know of people who have bought a 3rd party router so they can get full access to the raw 1.6gbs speeds, and they are having no issues on speeds as router has 2.5gb LAN on them unlike the EE smart hub plus
i have bought a usbc to 2.5gb Ethernet adapter so i can test the raw speeds at the ONT, plus if openreach do need to test speeds at my home they will be able too
so in short i hope you can see why i think this package has been rushed out from the fact openreach dont have the kit to test speeds at the customer home, to all the issues with the new smart hub plus

Im out in the sticks, but recently got Gigaclear, so have 1gbps up/down with them. They have their fair share of bad reviews, But all good so far.
Previous to that was having to use Starlink to get a decent connection to work from home on.
Only other option was 3mbps via dsl.

@datamonkey You need to look more at who gives you the best wi-fi calling as number one priority, then best mast signal to you at present, and take all the mobile checkers with a pinch of salt, as they all promise you the earth!

Just when you think things going well, don’t worry not to do with pro router
just had a text and emailed from Royal Mail saying the been told of a parcel being sent to them 48hour so Royal Mail don’t have it yet so now looking at Monday the best, and they was told it was a router issue Tuesday, and the killer is they sent out a smart hub 2! !! I’m awaiting a call back from Brett in executive complains as I’m far from happy, and how did I end up with a smart hub 2 I believed a replacement is the type you have as this was there defensive about the pro router as they could only do like for like as the system sees what you had etc

@Bluenose_Dave Setup the SSID/password offline on the smarthub2 and throw it online, at least you will have something and prove your ONT is good which if i remember you did with an apple device?

Well Royal Mail don’t even have it yet so at best I get the smart hub 2 on Monday, the last AirPort Extreme router but fail as ip address on a EEEoE connection
Brett has said he is sorry for this and should not of happened seems the smart hub 2 was does as a stand one order format and not the correct order format as a replacement and this is being looked into,
a replacement smart hub plus will be sent out but again looking Tuesday for that at best, I once again raised with Brett all of this is just the lastest chapter of issues I have had since moving over to EE
I get the feeling once the connection is sorted we be looking into as he said once in all working we have a chat on things, so that I hope sounds hopeful they understand how the service has been, thankfully with this **bleep** up executive complains are already involved and can see who did it

@Bluenose_Dave Sorry my miss reading, thought that they had already sent that one to you, EE really have no clue what you have after all this time, you are a very patient customer!

I am but there is only so much. And I be wanting to see what composition is going to be given. They got of softly when I had no service for 7 weeks only payed the min rate what is for a failed activation and not the highier rate what is for a total loss of service I was told my low speed period would be sorted once the WiFi enhancer feature was fixed as it has been for a while 155days ago and no compo and this this weeks failings.

My call back didn't come so I gave in and called them up, apparently my callback is scheduled for 4-days time, after much haggling the contact centre put me though to the next gen team.
The person there was pretty candid with me, said they didn't come up with a process for existing customers to get the WiFi7 router because they weren't going to give it to us (which makes sense?). He said that there's been so many calls, complaints and escalations from us 1.6Gbps'er that EE have reconsidered and are going to send them to us if we ask.
The NG team have got a form they fill out and send off to somewhere in EE, they are going to work through the requests and get them sent out. He couldn't tell me when because the process is still being confirmed but if we're on that list we will get them.
Best bit for me is, even with my complaint (to the TL and Exec Team) he couldn't see notes that the form had been done for me, so he confirmed some details and completed it while I was on the phone!
I know you can't always be sure that the information you're given is correct but he was reading some of it off the comms as we were talking to it seemed pretty legitimate.
