14 day wait for connection

Edn7
Visitor

Just moved house and ordered ee broadband. Told earliest connection date is 28 Jan, in 14 days as that is earliest they can get equipment out. Confirmed no open reach engineer required-previous owner was on Sky so line is live. Any ideas as to why this might be, and idea on how to speed it up please?

14 days to install from order is quite normal. In fact it recommends at least 3 weeks in How to move home with EE

@Edn7  It just might be a backlog of customers waiting for the Hub. EE can only send out what they have in stock and it’s first come first served and you’ll not jump the queue because you don’t need an engineer.

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.

Due to them sending out so many unnecessary replacement routers to fix allegedly faulty routers? 😉

If the line is still live with Sky as you say it's perfectly normal & is the agreed tinescale so comms can be sent for the takeover etc

I am switching from Sky 900Mbs to EE 1.6Gbs - ordered on Friday 17th and going live on Monday 27th.

Waiting for kit to be sent. The emails say if Openreach need to do anything they will contact me directly.

We are all used to getting next day delivery with Amazon, which can make us think everything should happen that fast. Yes, I would have liked EE to sent my new gear out on Sat for Sun delivery and go live on the 20th. However, these things take a little time. I am more keen for the switchover to go smoothly.

@bigrob : The bottleneck is principally the scheduling of an OR engineer to attend you. They would need to visit your home to swap a 1 Gig ONT to a 2.5 Gig.
