Gpt summary -
EE FTTP down, CHAP authentication failure on both custom router and EE Hub
Broadband dropped this yesterday and will not reconnect.
Openreach ONT lights are normal:
Power green
PON solid green
LOS off
Using both OPNsense and the official EE Smart Hub gives the same result. Smart Hub flashes orange.
PPPoE logs show:
CHAP authentication failure
LCP authorization failed
Connecting to access concentrator acc-aln2.ra
Reconnection loop
Username in use: bthomehub@btbroadband.com
So fibre link is up and PPP session reaches EE, but authentication is being rejected.
No recent internal changes to network. Line was working fine previously.
Has anyone seen this recently with EE? Looks like a RADIUS or backend provisioning issue rather than physical line fault.

The impression I got from the guy I spoke to was that they genuinely didn't know when it was going to be fixed. I do think that some CS people are just fobbing us off.
No public acknowledgement of this makes me think they haven't got a clue how to fix it right now.

I raised a complaint, it's just bad customer service at this point, no email or contact from EE, no ETA for a fix, just wait and hope.
It couldn't of come at a worse time, with kids off for a week and everyone online, had buffering issues for 4 days now! Come on EE do better, we a pay high price for 1.6gbs!
17-02-2026 02:46 PM
Same story no eta.
Though they are apparently sending out 4G modems now... Shall see if mine arrives!
17-02-2026 02:48 PM
That does not bode well for a fix anytime soon
17-02-2026 03:07 PM
And for those of us who live in the middle of nowhere without any useable 4g or 5g, we will remain stuffed! And so nice of EE to be in touch and to apologise for the prolonged lack of service and explain what the problem is.
17-02-2026 03:31 PM
Can I ask how you know this? It wouldn't help me anyway as I get practically no 4g signal in my house anyway but I'm curious as to what channels of communcation are happening.

I kicked off big time, they offered me this likely to shut me up and I asked if others had the same offer - they replied yes.
My issue is now fixed - just got lots of automated notifications via telegram 😀 full speed as well.

that's great news 😃
this outage and the way EE have handled it has really concerned me though.
I might now have to get a 2nd circuit installed for redundancy from an altnet
17-02-2026 04:52 PM
Mine has also just sprung back to life!
17-02-2026 04:58 PM
Aye already thinking about this. Will consider moving away from EE when contract ends.
