So the day has arrived, the iPhone X is in my hands and what a beast it is.
For me, an iPhone is the ultimate phone there is, for it's design, feel, experience and just pure excitement it brings. Sad some might say, but we all have our passions and I am not a technical minded type of guy, but I am an iPhone type of guy, for sure!
I picked up my X this morning and had no queue or issues whatsoever, really was hoping for a smooth journey to the fact that we all know spontaneous issues can popup in any part of a customer's journey, especially when you want something so bad! Thankfully I had Mr Luck on my side today.
The X is just amazing, it is beautiful, to the eye and to feel. It is slightly smaller than my iPhone 7 Plus, but I actually prefer this size. The smoothness of the slick shell is heaven, it is great to hold and for me, really feels like Apple have nailed the X (No pun intended 😉).
So today I am going to take you through my X journey today, with some photos and a visit to the newly opened and designed EE Store in Westfield, Stratford City.
The not-so-dreaded transfer of data/files
So I normally upgrade when there is a new iPhone release, well for main releases anyway. I normally 99.99% of the time experience issues transferring my iCloud and data from my previous iPhone to the new one. Commonly it would be connection failure, or servers not maintaining a constant transfer flow. However, not this time!
The new automatic transfer process was just faultless for me! The popup window appeared on my old iPhone straight away and it connected to the X within seconds, and started the installation process. It completed (I have quite a large iCloud) within minutes, and did not cut out once, or have any issues, wonderful!
The Look and Feel
As I have touched on above, I love, love and love, the look and feel of the X already, and let's be honest, I haven't even got to really know my phone yet, that takes a few weeks.
The edges are perfectly curved and seamless in its feel and smoothness to touch. The phone really is amazing on the eye and I honestly believe if you see someone using it, you would be drawn to it naturally, it is a fashion icon of the smart phones!
The screen is just mind-blowing and something I have waited for a long time for Apple to deliver to the iPhone, so I'm glad they have. It is perfectly full, reaching to every corner it possibly can to give you a full cinematic experience. The top of the phone where the speakers are perfectly shaped and the time and connectivity indicators fit jointly around that space, giving it a smart layout.
In short, I LOVE IT!
Face ID
So some of you are aware that I have always promised to really test this out, to make sure it is safe, as after all, our data can be unlocked with this feature. I of course have not had much time with my phone from this morning, but I have done the following initial testing:
- I have closed my eyes and the phone has not unlocked.
- I have three types of hats on (thanks Primark) and the phone has not unlocked.
- I have gone into light and dark areas and the phone has unlocked correctly.
- I have had someone stand over my shoulder with their head right next to mine (don't worry, wasn't a stranger) and the phone has not unlocked
- I have two different pictures of me printed, one professionally printed and one printed via a normal printer, the phone has not unlocked.
These for more are great signs but I agree, we will only be able to full test this feature in live environments throughout the coming weeks.
The Camera *WOW*
So, the new camera options in the Portrait mode do wonders! So you can adjust the light and current exposure by just selecting the presets which are available. The best one for me, as if you know me, you'll know I love a selfie, are the stage light and stage light mono settings. These two settings totally remove the background of your photo and give you professional photos at your lesiure.
I have not had time to really get creative with the photos but here is a perfect example of how it works.

Oh my!! These looked amazing when I watched the live keynote, however they are better in reality!! I thought I would upload one for you, however that would be so embarrassing haha. Just trust me, try them out.
I'm so pleased I decided to purchase the iPhone X and I think it is the best iPhone Apple has ever produced, and certainly worth the wait and anticipated of what is to come!
