The cable should be in the box of all iPhones from now on as it’s just the plug and headphones that are not included. This is also now including the 2020 iPhone SE.

@Strangegeoff   There is a cable it’s in the box.  All iPhones come with a cable they just don’t come with a plug any more.    Depending on what iPhone model it is you might need a standard usb to lightning cable to plug in a laptop as the iPhone 12 range are usb-c or an adapter USB-C to standard USB if your laptop doesn’t have a USB-C port.

The device will also charge via wireless charger.

Thanks Chris

I spoke to EE. There was actually no cable in the box and this will be how Apple proceed now apparently. Very helpful person at EE pointed me to Amazon and gave me the specs for the lightning cable, USBC to ESB converters and USBC 3pin charger. Just trying to work out how to get my recently purchased headphones to work ..........may have to sing to myself now when walking the dog! Good job it's Black Friday!

Have not even dared to look at costs for wireless charger.

Thinking I might buy a Batman style utility belt for the Apple peripherals. Whatever happened to the notion of "convergence?"

Thanks again

@Strangegeoff   You can pick up wireless chargers cheap.  I’ve got a few of them from £8 to £30.    Then you can purchase the ones from Apple  and take out a loan to purchase them.  😆.    eBay is your best bet.   If you have purchased wired headphones you’ll need a lightning to AUX jack.  Apple sell these.  See HERE.
wireless headphones are the way forward with Apple products though.

@Strangegeoff Out of interest what phone did you order and when did you place the order?

Surprised that the cable isn't available, I thought that they were providing the cable but not the plug!

My girlfriend ordered the iPhone 12 and it came as above
