Hi I have a sharer/gifting plan currently with 2 sims.
A family member has a PAYG phone and for Christmas I'd like to offer her to join my plan
(so they get 2yrs free calls, texts and data)
She may not accept the gift so I'm looking at ways of offering it. Maybe with the 14 day cooling off period if I sign up for another cheap low data sim.
How does this happen, I can only find a link to switch from payg to contract, but she would have to do it. In this case do I add another sim then transfer the number afterwards?

As you have surmised, I would recommend using the switch to pay monthly facility.
I wouldn't recommend adding any further complication than there necessarily needs to be, in terms of adding SIMs and then transferring them. Just use the switch to pay monthly service.
If you want to give a physical gift, then perhaps create a home-made mock-up "gift token" with an appropriate comment on there of what you want to offer.

The gift idea is great thanks.
Would the switch to pay monthly option allow me to add that sim to my existing account?
I think I have to add the additional sim, eg £8/m with 250mg data and then transfer the number whereas the switch to pay monthly may put them on their own contract.

Is there a way of transferring a payg number onto a family account?
eg if I add an additional sim how do I get the payg number onto it?
it is possible to transfer payg to a individual contract but not clear how we get them onto an additional sim.
Ive seen someone say there is a place to enter the number during checkout?

Hello @ukguy1.
Welcome to the EE Community.
If you wish to add an additional SIM to your account you can transfer your current pay as you go number by entering your existing EE pay as you go phone number into the Contact Number field during the checkout and we’ll move your pay as you go phone number to your new pay monthly account.
I would recommend texting SWITCH to 150 to see if your eligible for 20% off.
Katie 🙂

@ukguy1 : @bristolian has shown you how to switch the PAYG SIM to contract. This will make a separate a/c for the ex-PAYG user. You will then have to call CS with both of you available to effect a change of ownership on it. You will be then be paying for both contracts.
Entering your existing no. during the checkout of a new contract SIM, which you don't need to use anyway, is only for porting nos. in from other networks, not for EE nos..
To phone EE CS: Dial Freephone +44 800 079 8586 - Option 1 for Mobile Phone & Mobile Broadband or Option 2 for Home Broadband & Home Phone

How will it be a separate account if I’m adding the payg number as the contact number during checkout of an additional sim?
an additional sim will be on my account.
I’m guessing that from what you’re saying the other family member will need to authorise it with CS so I take ownership.
thanks for your help

You don't need to buy an additional SIM. The PAYG SIM when switched becomes the additional SIM.
If you are the a/c holder you don't need any authorisation from the other user on the a/c. It's just you & the person that was on PAYG that need to contact CS to effect a change of ownership. Are you a/c holder?

Oh right ok...
yes im the account holder of the sharer / family account. I currently have two additional sims.
i purchased £9 sims with 10% off.
i wanted to add another £9 sim then give this to the payg user, but transfer their number to it.

Also worth noting that if the payg user switches to contract before moving to my account
1- they’d need credit check and bank details
2- they can’t get the £9 sim for £8
this is a student family member so I want to add them to my account and pay the £8 for them, then share data.
but they need to keep their number.
it seems from what @Katie_B said that I just need to enter their number.
