iPhone 6s SIM in iPhone 12 mini

Hi - my iPhone 6s is dying and I am thinking of upgrading to the iPhone 12 mini. But I'm not prepared to pay a fortune for a contract ( current contract is £20 per month for 50GB of data and unlimited calls and texts). If I buy the iPhone 12 mini outright, will my current iPhone 6s SIM work in it? Or should I upgrade to a 5G ready SIM in readiness? Thanks

@CarolineHutt82 Your current sim will work in the mini you’ll just not get 5G until you have a 5G tariff.
