Variable speed on Huawei E3372h-320

Just bought the above dongle (2020 version) with a PAYG SIM. I am getting about 20mbps down and sometimes 40mbps up. Previously I bought a Huawei E3372 (2017 version) and was getting higher speeds at 30mbps down and 40mbps up. Dongle firmware to blame? Also on the EE coverage checker when I put in the E3372-h it says I WONT get 4G or 3G but I do. Sent the 2017 back because it kept disappearing from my PC.

Morning @banger696

Thanks for coming to the community.

Do we have any problems showing for your area on our network status checker?

Speak soon 🙂

Leanne.

No there dont appear to be any problems, just wondering if anyone in the Community had come across a situation like this before where upload is higher than download.

Hi @banger696

Thanks for checking.

If no one has had this, if you give us a call our Pay as you go Tech Gurus will get this looked into for you.

Thanks 🙂

Leanne.

I have sent the dongle back for replacement and will test again when it arrives. Thanks for the help Leanne.

No problem @banger696

Let me know how you get on 🙂

Leanne.

So the replacement arrived and getting 25mbps down and 38mbps up. Which is acceptable for a backup dongle I suppose. I have ordered two aerials which plug into the dongle to see if that improves things.

One possibility is that you are primarily served by the 800Mhz "extended range" coverage layer.

This has a few technical restrictions covering its use, which can sometimes mean the coverage checker gives odd results.
