Unable to add 4Gee wifi - HTC Desire 530

Hi there.  I am trying to complete the registration process by adding a device- HTC Desire 530- for my new EE account and thus receive my verification e-mail. I am at the stage below.

We now know this is a 4GEE Wi-Fi number

(Yep... 4GEE Wi-Fi is what we call mobile broadband)

To finish setting up your account:

  • Grab your 4GEE Wi-Fi device - Is that my HTC Desire 350?
  • Connect it to your tablet, phone or laptop - By USB cable?
  • Log in and continue - Log in to what?  I am already logged in to my EE account.

 Need help connecting your device

When I click need help connecting your device it gives me this.

Setting up your new device

To set up 4GEE Wi-Fi:

  1.

go to our Phones & Devices guides

  2.

    select Advanced filters

  3.

and then tick 4GEE Wi-Fi to find your device

When I click Phones & Devices it just takes me to a page full of phones and I can't find any reference to Advanced filters and 4GEE Wi-Fi.

I am probably missing something very obvious here and no doubt will look very silly by posting this topic but could the EE community please advise.

Has CS fixed it or is it still doing that "Grab your 4GEE Wi-Fi device" stuff? If so, you do have a PAYG 4GEE Wi-Fi data SIM in your phone.

EE seem to have got rid of  Advanced filters from Phones & Devices guides . You are now supposed to click on Mobile Broadband for 4GEE Wi-Fi devices. but you won't find your device there as it's a mobile phone.

Why have you stuck a 4GEE Wi-Fi data SIM in a mobile phone?

Thanks for your reply.  I phoned 150 and they fixed it at their end.  It's not a 4GEE Wi-Fi sim in my mobile phone. It's a pay as you go sim.  I was trying to set up my ee account and the system kept saying I had to add a device.  It prompted me for my ee phone number and I entered it.  It gave me this message.

To finish setting up your account:

    • Grab your 4GEE Wi-Fi device

    • Connect it to your tablet, phone or laptop

    • - Log in and continue.

Hence the reason why I mentioned 4GEE Wi-Fi as the topic starter because that's what the system is telling me where the problem lies.  All I wanted to do was complete the account registration for as pay-as-you go sim card that I ordered from 150 yet my account kept telling me to add a device.  To be honest I am completely baffled as to why I have to add a device to complete the registration of an ee account

Yes.  You are absolutely correct.  That was the sim that the ee customer service centre sent me.  I went out to Tesco and bought another sim.  I created a yahoo account and registered with ee in less than five minutes.  I haven't even become a customer with ee yet and already I am hacked off with them.  I have spent the last five hours trying to solve that and it was not my fault.  As you have stated the number in my account that I was entering was in relation to a 4GEE Wi-Fi sim.  You think the guy at 150 I phoned earlier would have noticed that.  But many thanks for all your help.  If all the advice in the community is as good as yours then that's one big plus.  Again, many thanks.  I think Admin can close this thread if they wish now.
