Been a 4GEE home broadband customer since the start, with the original Alcatel HH70VB router and an external antenna fitted high up on my house. Initially things were fine, getting 40/40 MB Up/Down , which compared favorably to the simply prehistoric speeds we got with BT Broadband.
The last few months...not so much. Lucky now to get 5 MB DL, plus loads of outages. Not much fun when trying to work from home. Then I go onto my Iphone and try a speed test and its 33mb ? Both on EE .... How on earth can my phone get better speeds than my router when I have a damn antenna sticking out of my house 30ft in the air? lol
Ive spoke with EE support and all they seem interested in are my speed test results and getting me to turn on/off the router. Just reading off a script.
Post code is ME9 7HL
Any pointers ? I pay about 70pounds a month on this product and its just not fit for purpose. Waiting on my email from Elon to get on Starlink and be done with this stress.

Hi @MROB1974
Variable download speeds are not, of themselves a fault. They're purely symptomatic of varying loads on the network at any given time.
What's intriguing is the difference between your phone & the router. Does your router software give any info on "connected cell" or "eNB ID" or similar?
On your iPhone, can you enter *3001#12345#* and send a screenshot or post the serving cell ID.
Is that difference in speeds only happened recently? And can you replicate it?

@bristolian Thanks for the feedback. Checked just now and my iPhone is still clocking 49mb DL with a lower 3mb UL speed. 4GEE home router 5mb DL with a higher 20mb UL speed
I ran that diagnostic on my iPhone and here are the screen shots - let me know if there is other data that may help

I'm looking to compare the "serving cell info" from both of your devices - to see if your issue is as "straightforward" as your phone and router being connected to different sites.
Have you always experienced this speed differential, or has it only started recently?

I only recently checked my phone performance to compare. TBH it didn't strike me as a possibility an external 4GEE antenna fitted by approved EE sub contractors would have a worse performance than my little iPhone
