I’ve had the EE 4G home broadband for a year now and generally it has worked very well.
But since November the speeds have been getting slower and slower. The best download speeds I got when I first signed up were 50 to 60mbps and I continued to get these speeds for most of the summer. During peak times this would go down.
Now I’m getting a maximum of 14mbps in the middle of the night (2am). But from 6am though to 11pm I’m lucky to get 2mbps sometimes I get nothing. (Speed test doesn’t even work!!)
Ive spoken to EE technical and they say the mast is over subscribed. I also got an email today to say the price is going up! Happy to pay more if I could get on line. Impossible when two kids are trying to home school and my wife works from home.
Anyone have any ideas on why this is happening?! 60mbps to less than 1mbps is unacceptable.
Please help

Hi @MHammond
Unfortunately, variable or slow data speeds are not - of themselves - a fault. If your speeds are varying, this is a symptom of varying loads on the network sites in your area. Be that different amounts of users, doing more data-intensive tasks or other factors.
Reporting these via the coverage & status checker is the first place to start, having a conversation with (most likely second-line) tech agents on 150 - as it sounds like you have - is the next.
If speed tests are timing out, that would be cause for concern and in some cases the online status checker would flag an issue. Did the tech agents you spoke to, give any advice by means of next action?

Hi @bristolian
I understand that speeds will vary with usage, but I have seen such a drop in the speeds from summer 2020 (best 60mbps worst 24mbps).
Now the best I get is 15mbps, the worst is nothing which happens almost every day, I can't get online as the speed is so low (speed tests error).
EE tech said the mast is overloaded - no plans to their knowledge that it will be upgraded.
I'll call tach again to see if there is anything else I can do. My neighbour has the same set up as me and has the same issues with drop in speed.

EE have a rolling programme of capacity additions to resolve local congestion spots, but unfortunately the exact details and timescales are not always visible to C/S agents
