Re: Can you pay off your contract off with American Express credit card

Is it possible to setup a direct debit to pay my bill monthly using my Amex card? When I go to change my default card it is asking for a sort code and account number but this isn’t on my amex card.

many thanks,

Chris

Hi @Reykeef

A direct debit is paid from a UK bank account.

What you may be thinking of, is a continuous credit card charge authority which allows recurring payments to be taken from a credit card. This - as far as I know - only works with Visa & Mastercard branded cards.

Paying with a bank card is not Direct Debit. DD is taken straight from your bank account. Hence the need for sort code and account number.

To pay your bill with a bank card you need to change your method of payment.

Hi @Reykeef

Simple answer is no because Amex is not a bank card.

Thanks
