Problems with auto date/time update on elderly phone

I've bought a really simple phone for my elderly uncle - an Artfone C10. It seems great except that it's not automatically setting the time and date and I'm trying to figure out whether this is a fault with the phone or if it is just that it's not able to pick up this data from EE. My uncle won't be able to set this himself so I need the phone to be able to pick up this information. I'd really appreciate any pointers. I'm speaking to the manufacturers of the phone as well but they think that it should work so I just wanted to check that EE does indeed transmit this info... Cheers 🙂

The auto-time-update feature has never needed any config, it's either worked or not.

 

I've just tested it on an old Nokia 6310i that I've got an EE-PAYG SIM in, and it's not corrected an intentionally wrong time as I would expect it to. I have a suspicion that a GPRS-data session may be the trigger, which I further suspect could be a problem in your case.
