I am thinking of getting a WiFi router that takes a sim card. (Something like the D-Link DWR-920 or something smaller which I can connect an external antenna to). I have 120gb per month data - can I use the Sim from my phone into the router (with size adapter)? And will I get the whole 120gb data allowance or will it only be a smaller 'hotspot' allowance? Thanks

Yes, you can put any SIM in a mobile router as long as it fits. Its allowances won't change from what it had when it was in your phone. When fitted it won't be hotspotting but used its own right.
