New SIM card came with new plan but my old one is still active

I got an email from EE telling me about a new plan £20 for 80gb of data so o signed up for it as an existing customer of EE and a SIM card came through the door with a new number now it seems I have two accounts when I only need one and I was the same number

Did you sign up for this plan as just a change of plan on your existing number? There's no need for a new SIM if you're just changing your plan.

 

Or was it an additional line with its own number? This would potentially explain the additional SIM.
