New PAYG Sim Can't register as emergency calls only?

Hi people,

 

I've just received my new PAYG sim from EE and am trying to register it. The mobile connection is showing as emergency calls only, so when it wants to send me a security code to finalise the registration process I'm not receiving the number. I know that there's coverage for my area, so it's not that. Does anyone know why it's doing this and how I can resolve it please?

Hey man,

Yeh, I took it out with me this morning about a mile from my original
location and it's exactly the same.. I'm close to binning it tbh, the
network coverage map is completely wrong.. It's a share, as I thought I'd
found the solution to the poor coverage in this neck of the woods.. Really
appreciate everyone's help though..

If I were able to speak to a rep from customer service I would, but as I
have no connection and now a GiffGaff sim that needs topping up before I
can use it again, I'm kinda stuck.. So I'll give it another hour or so for
someone from the company to see this message and make contact, then it's
going in the bin!

Does the Network Status Checker show any issues in your area?

Hey,

Just checked it again, it says 'no known issues' in my area and signal
should be good.. I did check it earlier this morning and also reported it,
but I've heard nothing from EE and no updates from the automated system..

Okay mate, will do thanks..

I've just been advised that there's an issue with the network in my area, fixed within 15 hours.. I'll hold tight until then, before going back to GiffGaff.. Appreciate the update, thanks..
