Moving my number from an EE contract to another EE contract

I have an EE contract and have just bought myself a new EE contract. I want to keep my current number. I just spoke to customer service and they said I have to port my number to a PAYG sim for 48 hours then over to the new contract. Is that right? That seems a very elaborate and unnecessary process to stay with the same company.

You can't port a number from EE to another sim on EE.

This is the same for every network out there.

You need to port it to a PAYG from another network like O2/Vodafone. When the port is complete ask for a PAC from them and then port it back into your new EE contract.

Why didn't you just do an upgrade? Then the number would have went with you.

Because I couldn’t get the same deal as an upgrade. The deals I was offered as an upgrade were going to be £100+ over the length of the contract.

Well you have been told correct on how to move your number over.
