Hi Guys, got my Huawei Mate 40 Pro on EE. Loving it so far but noticed something weird. It has a custom firmware. I thought the handset was unlocked? I previously had a Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus on EE that was sim free and the sales agent told me this would be the same and would get the firmware from the manufacturer, not EE.
Does this mean its locked down to EE and I will only get firmware updates from them? Hope that's not the case and it was not miss sold to me.

Hi @Neosegauk
It your device has EE branded firmware installed then updates will be delivered once any update is approved from EE.
SIM free firmware doesn't have this barrier with software straight from the manufacturer.
Thanks

So what's weird is it is sim free. I've tried my misses sim card in and she's with 3. It works. So what's with the weird custom software from ee on my phone
