This post concerns the Stormy Black 256Gb model.
So, I ordered on the 30th and I have been reading the community's posts looking for answers as to why it was taking so long (it's only been 11 days). Unfortunately, everyone here seems to have pre-ordered and so I couldn't get, exactly, the information I was looking for.
So, I called CS.
They said that the pre-order batches had gone out and people that HADN'T gotten their pre-orders on release date should have been sorted by now. And as for the rest of us who ordered after the launch, we should expect ours (fingers crossed) at the beginning of next month.
But all other storage variations are in stock and can be shipped ASAP. But, I ordered the 256Gb version for a reason and I'm not going to settle. It's just taking forever and I'm not particularly enjoying the wait anymore.
Fortunately, the phone case company, dbrand, that I ordered from ALSO didn't have any stock so at least I don't have a case without a phone.
But yeah, she (the CS respondent) mentioned "28 days" a lot but without certainty as to whether this count begins from launch, a recent sell-out, order time, or even the call I was on. But, it could be less. She also didn't know when the provider would ship the new batches so it could just be a number that they have put out in order to keep customers at bay.
And I don't blame CS for doing this because they frankly do not have the information that we're looking for and they are doing their jobs with the little they do.
Asides from EE's proficiency in underestimating the sheer volume of anticipators of this phone's launch, there has apparently been a shortage of chips in the phone community.
All in all, I would say, just keep your head high and forget about the phone at least until December 1st. Cuz chances are, if you ordered at launch, you may not get it before then.
