Giftable Data stops mobile data

ConnorWoff

Hello

Everytime my giftable data runs out (I use my phone as a hotspot as my wifi is a little lousy), it causes my phone not to be able to use mobile data at all. It happened last month as well and it was off for a few hours before it just randomly started again.

I'm on an unlimited data plan as well so it's a little annoying. Any help would be grand!

Your allowed to gift up to 100gb or 120gb per month depending on your Unlimited Plan, there is no reason why gifting should interfer or stop you from using your UL Data, what exactly happens when you try and use the Data ?

When I turn off wifi it just does nothing. There isn't even the icon on the notification bar to show 4G or anything even though mobile data is turned on.

Which Phone Model is it.

Galaxy S20 Ultra. I restarted my phone and it seems to have come back on, but last time it happened that didn't work which is strange.

Is it a Dual SIM model, if yes how many Sims are you using in the Phone, if more than one.

Yes it's dual sim but I only use one sim card

Ok, I was going to suggest that the Mobile Data is correct for the right SIM Slot, you can still check this, but if your only using the one SIM then it shouldn't be an issue.

Samsung are a bit strange how they present Mobile Data to some Apps, but can I suggest you download NetMonster from the App Store ( Google Play) this App should PullOut all the Mobile Data Info off the Samsung and at least tell you what your Connected to as well as usefull Mobile Data info.

Hi @ConnorWoff ,

Any chance this was just a strange coincidence?

Mobile phones typically have no knowledge how much data allowance you receive from the service provider except what you explicitly key into the mobile to track and reset a counter provided for convenience.

What's the delay between gifting the data and observing the fault? Immediate or a predictable interval of time. What if you leave 1 GB ungifted and run that down to zero? Is the data drop still seen?

I guess maybe no data is being gifted at all and the drop occurs at 120 GB or 100 GB usage exactly.
