Ee Auto Wifi on Tube unable to connect

Bearandbee
Visitor

Hi,

I have recently bought a PAYG sim, placed it as a 2nd sim in my Samsung s20, activated and loaded a £15 pack on to it. It took some attempts but I then managed to connect to ee auto wifi on the tube.

I have then ported my number over yesterday and today I can't get on to it. I just so happen to have added £5 credit today, for the just In case scenario eg. Mms etc.

I called 150 who advised that I needed to have £5 credit and can take up to two days to activate.

I have checked their help file and it says:

Pay as you go customers:

If you're an EE pay as you go customer with a WiFi-enabled device, you can get WiFi on the London Underground if you've topped up your account with at least £5 within the last 30 days.

It can take up to two days to update your account and give you access to WiFi on the London Underground once you've topped up.

Does that mean a PAYG Pack is not classed as a top up, and that I would have to have £5 additional  top up credit added every 30 days. Seems ridiculous to me,  especially as I had previously connected without any credit, just my pack.

@Bearandbee : A top-up is actually putting credit on it. Buying a pack is not in itself a top-up but is spending your credit from the top-up. So, yes, you would need to top-up every 30 days to continue using EE Auto WiFi on Tube.
