Device Unlock

only_aienp
Explorer

Hello,

I hope I get some help with my query.

1 week ago, I switched to GiffGaff, and at the same time I switched my number. Unaware that my phone is still locked to EE, the number switched to GiffGaff. I called EE on 2 separate occasions (one was a long hour call which didn't help) to help unlock the device, both times saying that I will receive a code to unlock my phone in 1 week. However, I haven't received anything to my email, and now I'm stuck with a SIM which can't be used because I'm not being sent a code which shouldn't take 7 whole days (and even after 7 days it still hasn't come).

If someone could help me out, it'll be appreciated. I don't like the fact the support isn't as much of support as expected.

Thanks.

Hi @only_aienp

Welcome to the community. We'll do our best to help. 🙂

What kind of phone is it that you're unlocking?

Chris

Hello,

The device is a Samsung Galaxy A70.

Where did you yourself get this device itself originally? Did you buy it yourself new direct from EE or from a 3rd-party reseller or is it 2nd-hand? The unlocking process & costs are different. Was it originally on contract or PAYG? How old is it? EE won't unlock contract devices less than 6 months old.
