Data Sim cannot be added to EE account

To add a device the EE want me to add the phone number of the sim to be added. Once done they send me a text to confirm but I cannot get texts and therefore the code needed from my Huawei Mobile device for the sim to be added.
I am going round in circles!

Why can't you get texts? What is this Mobile device?

Most MBB routers do texts. Login to it & look for the SMS section.
